These are mainly early Christian churches and chapels that can be found all over Brač are found. Since most of them are off the main tourist routes, the journey there is an exciting challenge for enthusiastic hikers. The ruins of a spacious 6th-century basilica in the peaceful bay of Lovrečina, east of Postira, are especially picturesque. Signs of Roman rule over the region are also scattered throughout the island and so you will find in Supetar, for example, the extremely interesting remains of a Roman villa. From the 13th century until the early 19th century, the island was under Venetian rule and you can visit numerous renaissance city palaces and Italian-style churches from that period, such as the Crkva Sv. Jelene (Helena Church) in Škrip. Here you will also find an original and appropriately famous olive oil museum. The whole place is somehow an open-air museum, which illustrates the rural life on Brač.   What to do on Brač   First and foremost, Brač is a true bathing paradise. There are a large number of beautiful beaches that are easy to reach. These offer bathing and water sports fans almost endless possibilities. The most famous and spectacular beach is undoubtedly Zlatni Rat ("Golden Horn") on the edge of Bol, which protrudes like a dagger into the Adriatic Sea. The perfect beach for those who love variety. While on the western side a stronger wind and a stronger swell provide perfect conditions for sailing and surfing, the whole family - even with small children - can bathe safely on the east side in the warm and almost motionless water. Lovers of fine sand should visit the picturesque beach of Lovrečina on the north side of the island. Real insider tips are the countless small bays. These partly pretty hidden beaches offer bathing fun without renouncing privacy or romantic togetherness. If you like action, you can do a quad tour through the rocky mountains of the island. If you want to see it from above, you can also book a half-hour flight over Brač and the neighboring island of Hvar.
