Žminj is a small town nestled in the heart of Istria, approximately 15 kilometers south of Pazin.

Rich Heritage

Žminj has a deep historical significance, with its first mention recorded in 1177 as a parish under the Poreč diocese. The town has since evolved, becoming part of the County of Pazin in 1368. A notable landmark is the Baroque Parish Church of St. Michael, built in 1625, which dominates the town center and showcases exquisite architecture.

  • Chakavian Assembly: This June event features contests for young poets reciting in the Chakavian dialect, promoting local literature and culture.
  • Accordion fest: Taking place in July, this unique competition highlights accordion-playing skills within a festive atmosphere.
